BOCOG shows off the lovely ladies who’ll be presenting Olympic medals.

BOCOG Cultural Activities Department director Zhao Dongming, BOCOG executive vice-president Cui Ning, Olympic champion Yang Yang, and television celebrity Yu Sheng were on hand to inspect the make-up and hairstyles that victory ceremony hostesses would be donning for the Olympic Games on Saturday morning.

“First, I’d like to thank the entire team of cosmetic artists and all the victory ceremony volunteers their hard work,” said Zhao. The leader is quite satisfied with the group’s participation.

Flag raisers The make-up and hairstyles of the volunteers must be compatible with the concept of sports, while still reflecting the spirit of Chinese youth. Although they are required to be simple, the make-up and hair should be distinct enough to look good on TV.

Yang, as a previous Olympic champ, has had first-hand experience with victory ceremony hostesses. She believes that the hair and make-up of the hostesses should be natural, and not so overbearing as to drown out the main reason for the celebration, the athletes themselves.

Male flag raisers will be dressed in attire that brings out the beauty of strength, health and youth.

Coca-Cola has a Beijing Olympic theme song called 红遍全球 (can be translated to “Become Famous All Over the World”) and is performed by Taiwanese popular female group - S.H.E (Selina, Hebe, Ella), Wilber Pan (潘玮柏, Pan Wei Bo) and Hong Kong singing legend, Jacky Cheung (张学友, Zhang Xue You).

This is rather a catchy tune with the Bird Nest being highlighted a few times and an easy-to-do action and cheering sequence.

Last year, 2007, 1010 bikini-cald Australian women set a Guinness World Record by forming 5 Olympic rings at Australia’s Gold Coast. Being the host country and with plenty of pretty babes around, China has just recently broken the old bikini rings record.

With 1202 beautiful babes forming the five significant Olympic rings at Chimelong Water Park, Guangzhou, on 15th June, it is no surprise that one will take some time to take a good look at each and everyone of them.

It may be freezing now in China but these models in Beijing 2008 Olympic swimsuits and bikinis do raise the temperature here by a lot. This line of swimwear apparel can turn heads around (same as these costumes) but certainly not cut out for competitive swimming.

When Beijing 2008 Olympic Games opens, we can expect a lot of cars disappearing from Beijing streets, a lot of foreign reporters enjoying press freedom and a lot of banned publications like Playboy and The Sun (UK) selling freely in Beijing shops. Unbanning such saucy stuff is one of the efforts to reach a “One World, One Dream” goal but such “happiness” is short-lived as the ban of such pornographic material will take into effect once again, when the Beijing Olympics is over.

A pity though.

The Olympic medals will be presented by hot Chinese girls.

“We have certain requirements for their height, since they are to present the medals to our athletes,” said Zhao Dongming, director of the Cultural Activities Department at Beijing’s Organizing Committee for the Games. “They need to be of a height between 1.68 (5-foot-6) and 1.78 meters (5-foot-10). That’s above average.”

“Generally speaking, they can’t be too fat,” Zhao added. “Their figure should be good. They shouldn’t be too heavy.”

Finalists have to be university students between 18 and 25 years old.

There’s already been a backlash, both from girls who don’t quite make the cut and from human right organizations who are angry over gender discrimation.
