Angel Valodia Matos Banned! For Life In Taekwondo

Angel Valodia Matos and his coach from Cuba were banned for life after the Swedish judge was kicked by Matos in Men’s +80kg Taekwondo bronze medal match.

Matos kicked Swedish judge Chakir Chelbat in the head as coaches from both teams ran on to the mat to dispute the result. The Cuban was leading 3-2 in the second period of the contest when Matos stopped to receive treatment for a foot injury. Competitors are allowed a one minute period to treat injuries, and when this time elapsed the referee awarded the contest to Chilmanov.

“He was too strict,” Cuban coach Leudis Gonzalez said of the judge. Gonzalez offered no apology for the actions of Matos, who may also face questioning from Chinese police and Olympic security officials.

Lol.

Update: The judge was Swedish not Spanish. Sorry for the mistake.

…鈥淗e was too strict,鈥 Cuban coach Leudis Gonzalez said of the judge…
Leudis Gonzalez does not live in this world.
He lives in a world of strict and pure socialism, where you can kick people in the mouth, out of strictness, just because you don’t strictly agree with them.
He lives in a world where everybody is stricly equal (except those with different ideas who strictly get kicked in the mouth).
He comes from that strictly paradisiac island where life is so strictly good and so strictly marvelous that almost everybody who strictly lives there is strictly eager to get out of it.

    Strange world, isn’t it?

    Hello,
My opinon about this situation is really simple:No Excuses! The most important event in the world about sport and Matos gives this image of the martials champions! This kind of behaviour has to be punish in the most heavy way possible.
He isn’t a real sport men he’s only a stupid macho!
    Agree with the judge.

I don’t think the cuban was looking for excuses. I’m not sure what the previous poster was saying, but Matos *is* a seasoned representative and an olympic gold medalist … and yet this did not stop him from doing what he was doing. Gives you something to think about.
