Lighting Of The Flame Cauldron By Li Ning, Beijing Olympics 2008 {Live Blogging}

Yao Ming brings in the flag now, representing 639 Chinese athletes. The music playing is Chinese traditional music. The whole stadium is jammed packed with spectators standing up. President Hu Jintao waves proudly to the Chinese participants. A cute little boy is seen beside Yao,waving both the Chinese and Olympic flags. The whole team is marching towards the Chinese painting which has everyone’s footprints across.
People are chanting “Go, go China!”
It’s hot in the National Stadium or Bird’s Nest, many are sweating.
The atmosphere is brewing…
Fireworks again, very beautiful…
IOC and BOCOG presidents (Jacques Rogge and Liu Qi) are coming in, walking the red carpet.
Liu Qi is giving a welcoming speech in Chinese now, giving thanks to everyone supporting the Beijing Olympics 2008 and help to fulfil China’s 100-year dream. He says One World, One Dream is being realized. He says,”Welcome to Beijing!”
Jacques Rogge is giving a speech and congrats China, Beijing in hosting the Beijing Olympics in Chinese. Excellence, friendship and respect are the spirit of the Olympics. He compliments the BOCOG and China.

I can’t believe it is all over. At least now the sports can begin.
At times I was boiling in the stadium yesterday. I had to keep trying to remain calm and not agitated with the other almost 100,000 spectators, so I wouldn’t sweat. The little boy next to yaoming was there because he is a Szechuan earthquake survivor.
