Some factories or goods producers such as Gushan Environmental Energy Ltd that produce biodiesel fuel has shut down its Beijing plant in the Olympics period before the Chinese government has issued a cease-operations notice in order to improve the air quality during the Beijing Olympics.

Gushan Chairman Jianqiu Yu said the company had not received a shutdown notice from the government but believed the restrictions have made it impractical to run the Beijing plant.
