Over here at Beijing Olympics FAN!, we aim to educate our readers (and ourselves) on the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games and the history of the Olympics. We just want you to get to know more about the history of the Games before the grand event on 8th August. We start off by asking ourselves,”When was the first Olympics and what year?”

The first Olmypics or the first ancient Olympic Games was held in Olympia, Greece, in 776 BC. The Games quickly gained importance in ancient Greece and only young naked men were allowed to participate. Wooh, sexy.

The first modern International Olympic Games was held in Athens, capital of Greece, in 1896. 108 years later, the 2004 Summer Olympic Games was held there again with a much bigger bang.

You can email us questions on the Olympics at tips@beijingolympicsfan.com and we’ll try our best to answer here.
