China Promises Clean Olympics
News October 26th, 2007
Another day, another article about China’s pollution problem. I don’t need to read this — I can look out my window. But wait, it’s actually about the anti-steroids campaign in China.
Liu Peng, the Director-General of State Administration of Sport, said that China is currently assisting the International Olympic Committee with anti-doping efforts. He went on to say that:
“According to a report by the World Anti-Doping Agency, in 2006, the percentage of positive samples from all the tests [of athletes] around the world was two point one three. And in China, the figure was only zero point four percent. We’ll try our best to make the 2008 Games a clean event. ”
Use of steroids destroys the spirit of fair competition in the Olympics, and China promises to make every effort to stop it.
