556 000 Beijing 2008 Volunteers So Far, Number Rising Steadily
News July 26th, 2007
556 000 people are volunteering their services for Beijing 2008 so far, a very healthy number I must say. 550 000 foreign guests are expected to visit the Games next year and each guest can have the help of at least a volunteer.
About 70,000 volunteers are expected to work at Olympics venues, with 30,000 more working at Paraylympic venues. The remaining volunteers will staff urban area outside the Olympic venues 鈥 like bus stations, first-aid centers and subway stops.
Getting volunteers in China is not much of a problem as China population tops 1.3 billion.
