Naughty Fuwa!!!
Mascots, News July 29th, 2008
Someone’s added some new, unofficial Fuwa to the group! Yaya is a duck, Tingting is a butterfly (or a dragonfly), and Dede is a cute little taxi!

The names of the real Fuwa spell out Beijing welcomes you, but with these cute new additions, it spells out Welcome to Beijing, you S.O.B.!!!! Haha!
Edit: I’ve been informed that ya ting de is more like “b@stard” than “son of a b!tch”. My Chinese skills need work!

Totally acceptable behaviour by the residents of an Olympic city. Sydney (where I hail from) had “Fatso, the Fat-Arsed Wombat” as its unofficial mascot.
I welcome YaYa, TingTing and DeDe to the Olympic pantheon. Since when did “The Marketing Department” have the final say on what represents us as a city or race of people?
Not much of a cultural void here either. “Bastard” is a well-accepted Australian term of endearment, too.
