Flight from Seattle to Japan, check. From Seattle to Taiwan, check. From Seattle to Korea, check. From Seattle to Beijing? Non at the moment but we can expect non-stop direct air service from Seattle to Beijing or Shanghai sometime next year. There will be an increasing demand for such service due to the Beijing Summer Olympics 2008.

“We are working on a couple of different Chinese carriers and have reason to be modestly optimistic that one or the other will initiate service within the next year or so,” said Mark Reis, managing director of Seattle-Tacoma Airport.

Beijing 2008 will see a surge of air travel activity, services and of course, money changing hands.
